Insignia wanted to pair its sophisticated GPS architecture with a welcoming, easy-to-use UI.
I was responsible for visual design of both the product as well as various demonstration skins for CES. I also created animation, generated assets, and authored developer specs.
The ideal of iconography conveying meaning with minimal effort is particularly essential for driving — a challenge compounded by the necessity of alternate pictograms for night use. All icons had to be concise and distinct with instantly recognizable nighttime counterparts.
This version of the Internet-Connected GPS was available at BestBuy in 2009.
